S T E (SCREAMING TOWARDZ EARTH) Few bands in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and San Jose capture the spirit and authenticity of 80's Modern Rock like the quintet of performers known as S T E (SCREAMING TOWARDZ EARTH). S T E has always had the audacity to attempt songs other bands were too afraid to try, and in doing so, could include such 80's dance-oriented covers as those by New Order and Depeche Mode. Two of the band's members make this possible with their use of guitar synthesizers: Singer Jay Wayne and Lead Guitarist David Staub. They, along with bassist Michael Clausen, took this brand of music in 1994 and decided to mix it in along with the popular Grunge songs of the day. They forged the original S T E format which appealed to the Pub Circuit, up and down the Peninsula and Silicon Valley, throughout the 90's. Jay Wayne has performed up and down the west coast, from Seattle to Los Angeles, for the past several years, and has been recording albums for the J-Zone Record label. One listener described his singing this way: "It's great to hear a voice so strong & smooth". Another wrote: "The songs are tight, the production is solid, and Jay's voice is pure and powerful." David Staub is the maniacal guitar man with the burning fingers. If it's lead you like, it's Dave you want to hear. Dave has been performing in Northern California, from Redding to San Jose, and setting fire to the fret board, for many years. He also adds vocals and the perfect comic relief to the stage, with impeccable timing. Bassist, Michael Clausen, has a melodic yet powerfully danceable style which he uses to create a low end pulse. Mike's hair alone is a spetacular sight to see because it's longer than any one else's, not only in the band, but on the entire planet. Some say the secret to Mike's strength is in his hair. In late 2004 the group added the talents of two more Bay Area pro players to round out the unit and bring back the S T E sound to the area, while adding a new century groove into the mix: On drums, Wayne Debella locks in with Clausen to provide a rhythmic calliope of modern rock and alternative rhythms. Wayne also brings his wealth of knowledge about classic rock rhythmns to the table to infuse a rich soulfulness into the steadfast techno backdrop which S T E is known for. Warren T. Valid is S T E's main vocal harmony man, and also a guitarist (acoustic mainly). He is the final ingredient to provide color and texture to the line-up. Warren, a great lead vocalist in his own right, brings his stage experience and rich vocal tonal quality into the mix to insure a fearsome foursome across the front of the stage. To sum it all up, if someone wishes to see, hear, or dance to a variety of alternative modern rock songs, spanning from it's early origins in the 80's through to its current resurgence today in 2005, then there is but one act to go see: S T E (SCREAMING TOWARDZ EARTH!).
